Corned Beef and Cabbage

1 corned beef brisket, 3-5 pounds
4 potatoes (more if you have more people)
6-8 carrots
1 onion (more if you like onion)

Peel and cut potatoes and carrots into 1" chunks. Place into crock pot. Peel onion and cut into quarters, place into crock pot. Place brisket, the liquid from the package, and the spice packet into the crock pot. Pour about 6 cups of water into the crock pot and turn pot to high. Cook for 6 hours or until done.

What exactly is corned beef?

It's a cut of beef called the brisket that has been cured. Usually, it is a wet cure, which is why there is some liquid in the package with the beef. It changes the texture and flavor of the meat.

I realized this morning that I forgot to mention the cabbage part. I usually just slice the cabbage into 4 and then steam it for about 25 minutes or until done.
